Dry blasting/shot blasting is an aggressive cleaning and material preparation process which is much harsher than aqua/vapour blasting with sand bead. We use our shot blasting plant to remove paint and rust from metals as a standalone service in preparation for our powder coating or plating services. We blast with a variation of media depending on the requirements and condition of the metal.

Here at Blast N Coat we use dry blasting to prepare metals before powder coating or plating. Depending on the state of the metal when it is brought to us, we normally soak the item in a stripping agent to loosen up / remove previous paint, coatings and build-up. Dry blasting is perfect for removing thick layers of paint from bike frames, panels, and wheels before coating and for cleaning up heavily rusted parts such as axles and chassis/sub frames. It is also suitable for home items such as gates and metal fencing. We blast items of all sizes, from small delicate parts to large items such as gates and subframes. Dry blasting works well with the following metals:

  • Stainless steel
  • Steel
  • Aluminium

We have a range of industry-leading equipment including a large shot blasting cabinet, a self-contained shot blasting room for larger parts and a top-of-the-line vapour blaster for cleaning/polishing aluminium.
